STORY SIRENS CODE OF CONDUCT FOR RETREAT ATTENDEES

At Story Sirens Studio ("Story Sirens"), we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment where all writers can feel safe, inspired, and empowered to create. By attending a Story Sirens writing retreat, you agree to uphold the following standards of conduct:

1. Respect for Others

Treat all attendees, facilitators, and staff with kindness, courtesy, and professionalism.

Practice active listening and constructive communication in workshops, discussions, and feedback sessions.

Respect others' boundaries, personal space, and creative processes.

2. Inclusivity & Non-Discrimination

Story Sirens welcomes writers of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, age, or any other protected category. 

We are committed to maintaining a space where everyone feels welcome, heard, and valued.

3. Safe and Supportive Environment

Harassment, intimidation, or any form of disruptive or threatening behavior—verbal, physical, or written—will not be tolerated.

Consent and confidentiality are essential, particularly when engaging in group discussions or sharing personal work. Never share another attendee’s work or personal story without their explicit permission.

4. Responsible Use of Shared Spaces

Be mindful of noise levels, cleanliness, and shared resources throughout the venue.

Respect quiet hours, communal areas, and other attendees’ need for focus and rest.

5. Substance Use

Alcohol and other legal substances may only be consumed in moderation and in designated areas, in a way that does not disrupt the experience of others or compromise safety.

The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited.

Violation of the Code

Story Sirens reserves the right to ask any attendee to leave the retreat immediately—without refund—if their behavior violates this Code of Conduct or creates an unsafe or disruptive environment for others. This includes but is not limited to harassment, discrimination, property damage, or any form of physical or verbal misconduct.

By attending this retreat, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by the Story Sirens Studio Code of Conduct. We thank you for contributing to a positive and inspiring creative community.
