Summer 2026 Montana Writing Retreat

Apply now to reserve your spot for Story Sirens Studio’s Summer 2026 Writing Retreat, hosted in collaboration with The Placeless Blonde Events!

Join us July 16-19 in picturesque Southwest Montana for this all-ladies writer’s retreat!

This summer, trade your daily routines for crisp mountain air, wide-open skies, and a soul-restoring creative escape. Our Summer Writing Retreat is designed for inspiration, adventure, and deep reconnection — with your writing, your voice, and a supportive community of women who love stories as much as you do.

Nestled in a picturesque valley with a 360-degree view of magnificent mountain ranges, this retreat blends uninterrupted writing time with optional outdoor adventures that awaken the senses and spark creativity. Whether you’re journaling beside a peaceful stream, drafting chapters while enjoying spectacular views, or sharing laughter and stories around an evening fire, you’ll find space here to slow down, breathe deeply, and let your imagination roam free.

What to Expect

Core Retreat Package:

Each day offers a refreshing balance of dedicated writing time, optional workshops, and opportunities to soak up the beauty and adventure of summer.

Activities include:

  • Guided writing exercises & creativity workshops

  • Peer feedback circles

  • Optional yoga & mindfulness sessions

  • Communal meals

  • Plenty of independent writing time

  • A cozy pajama party to unwind

Writer’s Inspiration Package:

Our Montana Writer’s Inspiration Package* includes everything to love about our regular retreat—plus an extra day designed to give you extra time to immerse in the local culture and spark your creativity. This special experience is all about drawing inspiration from the place itself, with thoughtfully curated activities and reflection workshops that help turn real-world experiences into powerful writing.

During the Inspiration Package, we’ll explore a crystal park where you can dig for your own quartz and amethyst, and step back in time at Bannack State Park during “Bannack Days,” an old mining town celebration where you’ll experience life in historic Montana—from quilting demonstrations to blacksmithing and more. It’s the perfect creative fuel for writers looking to deepen their storytelling.

You’ll still enjoy plenty of dedicated writing time, along with our professional talks and workshops—now enhanced by unforgettable experiences that bring fresh perspective and inspiration to your work.

*Requires a minimum number of participants to take place, otherwise the additional fees associated with our Inspiration Package will be refunded.

Horseback Writing Experience (Optional Add-On)

Available as an add-on to both our Core Retreat and Writer’s Inspiration Packages, the Horseback Writing Experience** offers a full day of connection, creativity, and calm on a local ranch.

You’ll spend time learning about horses and ranch life from experienced ranch hands, enjoy guided horseback riding through beautiful surroundings, and have space to relax, reflect, ask questions, or quietly write in a peaceful outdoor setting. It’s a wonderful opportunity to slow down, reconnect with nature, and find fresh inspiration for your work.

This experience is available for an additional $300 per person and will take place if at least 5 participants sign up. If fewer than 5 register, the add-on will be fully refunded.

If 12 or more participants sign up, the cost will be reduced to $240 per person, and all participants will be refunded the difference.

Spots are limited, so we encourage early sign-up to secure your place!

**Due to safety concerns, participants must be under 230lbs, have full mobility, may not be pregnant, must be able to stand from a seated position without assistance, cannot be recovering from surgery (must have a release note from their doctor), or handicapped as we are unable to accommodate those needs.

A Day in the Life of a Story Sirens Retreater

Begin your morning with optional yoga or a peaceful stroll in nature before enjoying a nourishing breakfast. Spend your days immersed in writing sessions, creativity workshops, or relaxing outside with your notebook and the sound of waves nearby. If you wish, join one of our excursions for an extra burst of inspiration and adventure.

Evenings bring everyone together for delicious meals, meaningful conversations, and the kind of laughter that lasts long after the retreat ends.

Snacks, coffee, tea, and soda are available around the clock, and all meals are included in your retreat fee.

Again, all writing activities are optional — we want you to follow the rhythm your creativity needs most.

Who It’s For

Writers of all genres and experience levels are encouraged to join us. While the retreat leans fiction-forward, we’ve welcomed memoirists, poets, essayists, bloggers, nonfiction writers, and more. If you’re seeking a supportive, judgment-free environment to create, explore, and grow, you’ll feel right at home.
