Join us for Story Sirens Studio’s seasonal writing retreat in the serene landscapes of South Dakota—a reclusive, snow-dusted haven designed to help you sink deeply into your work and rediscover your creative rhythm.
Surrounded by wide-open skies, hushed forests, and the stillness only winter can bring, you’ll find the time, space, and gentle encouragement to write, dream, and create. Cozy up by the fire, watch the snow fall, and connect with fellow writers who share your passion for words, solitude, adventure, friendship, and imagination.
What to Expect
Each day is thoughtfully balanced with solo writing time, optional group activities, and moments to simply breathe. Whether you’re outlining a novel, revising your memoir, or just trying to find your voice, this retreat is here to support you.

A Day in the Life of a Story Sirens Retreater
Mornings begin with gentle, optional yoga—tailored to your comfort—followed by a nourishing breakfast. Days unfold with inspiring group sessions, ample free writing time, and a laid-back atmosphere where you can write in peace or share ideas with others. Evenings bring everyone back together over delicious dinners and meaningful conversations.
All meals are prepared onsite and included in your retreat fee, with a variety of snacks, coffee, tea, and soda available around the clock to keep you energized and focused.
All writing activities are optional—we believe in making space for what you need most. Whether that’s writing alone by a window or joining every session, the choice is yours. That said, we encourage retreaters to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones by participating in an activity or exercise they might otherwise not consider.
Who It's For
Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome! While the retreat is fiction-focused, we’ve hosted poets, nonfiction writers, essayists, speechwriters, and more. If you’re looking for a judgment-free zone to write, share, and grow, this space is for you.
Lodging & Cost
Cost: $800 per person
Deposit: $250 to reserve your spot (goes toward the total cost)
Accommodations: A mix of spacious bunk rooms and a limited number of private rooms (available first-come, first-served for an additional fee).
The venue is designed with plenty of cozy corners and writing nooks, so you’ll always find space to focus or relax and room to breathe, both physically and creatively.
